Grace \ˈgrās\ : Seemingly effortless beauty or charm of movement, form, or proportion. Yes, every bit of this is Grace. Such a natural beauty, everything I love to have in front of my lens. Sweet, kind, and absolutely stunning. The perfect gallery to share this Friday evening. I was so happy to reconnect with Grace's mom, Patty, my junior high partner in crime. I'm sure that Grace is eagerly counting down the days till graduation. I can't wait to see what your future brings. Thank you for sharing your Senior Portrait experience with me!
Taylor, Taylor, Taylor! Taylor's Momma is my good friend and my HAIRDRESSER (We love our hairdressers, yes?)! I have known this little beauty since she was just toddling around her mom's salon. My how time passes by so quickly. What a gorgeous young lady you have grown up to be. Hard to believe that soon you will be graduating from high school then off to pursue your career dreams. I had so much fun with you creating your Senior Portraits. Good luck in the future, I can't wait to see all that you achieve!
As you know, I hassled my Boss, Dr. Pete Atkins, in front of my lens last month, but I also had the opportunity to photograph our office receptionist as well. The office website has been under construction and some updated images were needed. Jenny is the first face you see when you step into Atkins Chiropractic and I guarantee you that she always has a smile on that adorable face. I just love her and she has been such a great addition to the office. I just had to share! - Love it when my two worlds collide!
Sometimes you get to bring your camera to work. Last week I got to put my Boss in the hot seat in front of my lens. Gotta tell ya, it was kinda fun bossing him around - of course he'd probably retort that its not any different than any other day! I have been working for this guy for 33 years this month! Can you believe that? Eighteen years old, out of high school and my very first job. And he didn't want to hire me - too young! Bet he didn't plan on me sticking around this long. I seriously could not have found a better man to work with and harass for this many years. I'm pretty darn lucky! Thanks for being such a good sport Dr. Pete!

Last, but definitely not least MY KYLIE! My heart melts with her every smile! Children: Kids/Teens Category These little spurts of sunshine lately are making me anxious for my Spring and Summer sessions to start! Until then, I will ease my anxiety by continuing to share the beautiful Class of 2017 Seniors that I was so lucky to have in front of my lens last year. Have you ever met someone that you instantly have rapport with? Well for me, that was Kylien. She is quick to smile, fast to make a joke and completely comfortable in front of the camera flashing that beautiful smile of hers or making the most incredibly goofy faces and I absolutely LOVED it! I had a blast with her and her equally beautiful best friend and her adorable pup! A session I won't soon forget. And of course, she is a Puyallup Viking, so she's gotta be awesome right? Thank you so much for sharing this special time of your senior year with me Kylien - you make me smile!
I entered my first photo competition and out of 332,768 photos entered, I have a photo that made it through 11 rounds and in to the 12th and final round. That's the top 3.5%. Pretty good way to start my week! Can't wait to see which image made it to the finals.
I'm excited to say that my nephew and his beautiful wife delivered their beautiful baby girl on Tuesday, February 28th! Welcome to the world Amelia LeAnn Johnson - I can't wait to meet you, hold you and have all of your sweet babiness, and yes that's a word, in front of my lens. Must get to ARIZONA! In the mean time.....here is a little reminder of a cool November morning before Miss Amelia made her grand entrance into this great big world!
Today was spent sorting through my hard-drive and archiving portraits from the past. I came across this image and was instantly reminded of the day that I was blessed to be invited to attend and photograph the guest speaker at a private event in Oregon, His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama. I was allowed to use one of my images on my website and this one was without a doubt the one that I had to choose. To have such an amazing and spiritual being looking down at me through my lens was an experience I will never forget. At the end of the event, I was draped with a scarf blessed by the Dalai Lama. This will always remain a special and peaceful memory that I will hold deep in my heart.
Another lazy rainy NW day has me remembering just how far behind I have allowed myself to get with posting senior sessions to the blog. So who better than this sunshiny face to brighten my day and start me back on the right track. I met Brooke and her mom at one of my favorite parks to shoot senior portraits. Wright's Park makes such a beautiful background, as does the Tacoma Antique Row. But honestly, with a such beautiful young lady like Brooke in front of my lens, the background really doesn't matter. She makes everything look fantastic! I wish you luck in the future Brooke, I know that you have much fun and success!
Allison & Emily - Kennedy Catholic High School - Class of 2017 - Seattle/Tacoma Senior Portraits2/3/2017 A rainy Friday night seems like a good time to grab a cup of hot tea and share a beautiful late summer Senior Portrait Gallery. Especially when it is these gorgeous twins in front of my lens. I had so much fun with these two wandering about Tacoma. Love their style, their smiles and well.........just EVERYTHING about them! I even got Mom to join in on the fun that evening - I love when that happens! Graduation is just around the corner - I can't wait to see what the future holds for these two. Thank you for sharing this special time with me ladies and good luck to you both!
Here we go.....Another share of a beautiful 2017 senior graduate that I was so lucky to have in front of my lens! I went all through school with Sophie's pretty Momma, Laurie! So many great childhood memories. I just love how Facebook opens the doors for us to reconnect. Sophie is the sweetest young lady with just the right amount of spunky attitude. I just loved that about her! I can't wait to see what the future holds for this beauty!
So the holidays have come and gone. The decorations put away for another year. No better time than now to start sharing some of the beautiful seniors that I was lucky to have in front of my lens last year. Starting out with the fun, silly, energetic, and oh so sweet Alex! I worked with her Momma, Shelly many (too many to say) years ago. So fun to go meet her beautiful daughter.
So blessed at Thanksgiving to have our table and home filled with family. I was so happy to finally meet my nephew's beautiful wife. They are expecting baby #1 in March, so of course we had to sneak out for a bit between the raindrops and capture of few special portraits. Love you both and wishing you much happiness with your new little family.
Did I say I LOVE shooting in downtown Tacoma? Brooke wanted something a little different than a grassy field and although I am country at heart, I definitely love a little bit of the city too! Lots of colors and patterns plus a fun senior in front of my lens equals a happy photographer!
I LOVE shooting in downtown Tacoma and Myah proved to me that the color and light on a rainy day is just as beautiful as on a sunny summer evening! I am in love with this image!
Oh those CURLS! Those gorgeous EYES! And that beautiful SMILE! I am having so much fun working my way through this session this evening.......More to come soon!
I first met Lane when my Emily tried out for the same junior high cheer team as Lane. I immediately fell in love with her! Anyone who has met her would know exactly why. When Lane first posted that she was expecting I couldn't wait to ask her if she would share that beautiful baby bump in front of my lens. I have little experience with maternity portraits, so I was so grateful when Lane said yes to my request, as well as the patience both her and Kolby gave me while I tried out this pose and that pose. CONGRATULATIONS to you both - you will be the most wonderful parents!
I had so much fun hanging out with this handsome young man. We ended the session with the rain pouring down on us and a happy reminder from Weston that he was headed out to Hawaii in the morning! Enjoy that tropical sunshine for all of us back here in the Pacific NW!
A few raindrops, wet ground and looming dark clouds didn't put a damper on this delightful girls fun! The rain held off just long enough for us to get through her session. Thanks for coming out and playing in the rain, Katie!
Well.......the rain didn't keep this little sweetheart away from my lens. We made it through her session with just a few raindrops and a whole lot of smiles! Thank you Alana for sharing your beautiful daughter with me - pure happiness for my soul!
