HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SENIOR PORTRAIT SESSION
Photo Shoot: Be sure to arrive on time or 5-10 minutes early. Many sessions are scheduled around the best natural light so we don’t want to waste a minute of it!
Mindset: Photographing guys is much different than photographing girls and I understand that. I will make you look like a guy, so relax. You won't feel uncomfortable or have any awkward posing.
What’s your style? As a general rule, guys are more complacent when it comes to photos. Even if it's just for your mom, please come prepared. Dress in a style that expresses who you are, but dress nicely. That'll make mom happy! Bring outfits that match your style. Avoid stripes or loud prints and graphic t-shirts. Solid colors photograph much better than busy patterns and help draw attention to the star of the show – you!
All clothes should be clean, pressed and on hangers. My camera equipment is precision sharp and easily picks up clothing flaws. Be sure that clothing is free of lint, hairs and worn bumpy material. Extra time editing may result in extra fees.
Shoes: I don't expect you to get as excited as the girls about shoes, but bring a variety of casual and dressier shoes (that match your clothing). Make sure shoes are clean as they will appear in your photos.
Skin Care: I retouch every single photo you will see, so please don’t be concerned about minor breakouts. I’ve got you covered! If your breakout is more severe, you’re still okay. I will happily help you out with a little extra retouching.
Hair: If you have longer hair, make sure it will stay out of your eyes during your session. Have it trimmed if necessary.
Shaving: Please come to your session cleanly shaven. Retouching stubble costs extra and won't look as good as a clean shave.
Nail Care: Your hands may appear in some of your portraits so make sure nails are clean and manicured.
Weather: Don’t worry about our Pacific NW clouds. They actual diffuse the light and make for ideal portrait lighting. If rain is falling, we will need to reschedule. I will make that decision the night before or early the morning of and contact you. If you have any doubts or concerns, please contact me at 253-370-8816.
Parents: Nobody knows your child better than you do and therefore I value your input. Although many parents feel that their presence will make their teen nervous, most often the opposite is true. If you cannot attend the session, I still value your input, talk with your teen and let him know if there is anything special you want so they can tell me when they get here. Please let me know before the session if there is something specific you are looking for.
Most Important: Have fun - this is a day all about you! A day to celebrate everything about YOU!
